Here is a reiveiw from the Washingon, D.C. show on 5/12/00 at the 9:30 Club. Wiskey Biscuit opened and needless to say they were not well received by the audience. I thought the lead singer was going to fall over and pass out. Elliott was watching some of their set form the balcony above the stage. Elliott came on at about 11:30 and played 21 songs. Here is the set list:

Ballad of Big Nothing Independence Day Everything Means nothing to me Son of Sam Junk Bond Trader In the Lost and Found Just Between Us LA Cupid's Trick Stupidity Tries Pretty Mary K Ulgy Before Amity A Question Mark Can't Make a Sound ENCORE- full band Color Bars Living in a Cage Happiness Encore - solo Easy Way Out I Better be Quiet Now I Me Mine -full band

I was such a great show. Elliott was wearing his black limo service shirt and he was smiling a lot at eric and sam. After he played "Stupidity Tries" he asked the sold out crowd if we liked "Wiskey Biscuit" A couple of people claped and then everyone started laughing. Elliott had a huge grin on his face and then told everyone to go buy there stuff casue they need money. It was funny. His parents were watching from the balcony and he pointed them out before the last song. When he was playing "I Better Be Quiet Now" he got to the part where he only plays guitar and he messed up. Elliott said,"Oh Shit" and he smiled. Then he put his finger over his mouth and said, "Shhhh! you didn't hear that" He didn't finish the song, btt called the bamd back out for "I Me Mine". It was so good. I can't wait to see him again.

Im the same way. I saw Elliott in Raleigh(where I live now) and in DC. The 9:30 club in DC is much better than the Ritz. The sound was alot better at the DC show as well. The cover they did both night was the Beatles "I Me Mine" from the "Let It Be" album. It was like the real thing! I was having serious chills when they did "Everything Means Nothing To Me" . Cupid's Trick was alot hotter with two guitars. The addition of the piano/organ/guitar player made these the best shows I have seen thus far. I have seen Elliott 4 times total. We ended up hanging out w/ Wisket biscuit for a while on friday after the show. Jason, the singer/songwriter is a really nice kinda guy.

Hey all...I kinda thought he wore the limousine shirt that somebody
mentioned earlier in D.C....but I couldn't swear to it.  Other than that,
since you guys all need to hear my two cents: Wow!  D.C. was awesome.  He
smiled a lot (compared to the last time he was in D.C., anyway, which was
my first time seeing him)...and the part at the end where he messed up and
went "Shiiiiit....shhh, don't tell anyone" and then brought the band back
out to play "the cover" was so cute :)  And I was so excited to hear "I Me
Mine" because I'm a big George Harrison fan :)  Okay, time to do lots and
lots of homework :P Bye!

Hello I am new to the list. I was at the concert in washington. I was wearing the animal print backless shirt and begged for tickets before the show. (hehe) Umm Yeah! SO elliott RULED! Wow that show was amazing. I hadnt seen him live before but it was GREAT! oh and that aaron guy was VERY VERY cute, but i didnt see him and e making any faces at each other, even though at one point aaron started laughing and e looked at him and he mouthed 'later' , but i just thought some girl had just flashed him in the balcony or something. yeah so what was the last song played? and did anyone get a poster? and during the ever so amazing 'i better be quiet now' i started crying even though he messed up it was too beautiful . and how di dyou like his parents being there? they were so cute up in the balcony. oh yes and the highlight of my life was getting a pick that either aaron or elliot were using. I stood around and a 930 employee gave it me it is a black fender medium and it is now around my neck! what an amazing night. ashley

hey y'all, i just wanted to make a few comments about the D.C show last night. i thought it was a great show--highlights included "junk bond trader", "amity", "easy way out", "question mark", and AARON, the piano/guitar player! as i watched elliott and aaron smile at each other whenever one of them would do something cool, or whenever i saw them make eye contact, i just KNEW that elliott and aaron must have some sort of sexual relationship. i mean, we all know that smith's gay, and this aaron guy is obviously gay too (i mean, anyone who plays piano and guitar and looks half-asian HAS to be gay, right?)...what i'm saying is that aaron wasnt only filling in MUSICAL holes, he was filling in other holes as well. what i'm saying is that while he was indeed holding the band TOGETHER, later that night i'm sure he was holding smith's cheeks APART. dont worry, i think gay guys are cool.

on a side note, COOMES upstaged everyone!! that guy is the gurthest thing ever--he cant be touched! his harmonies were dead on, and i think him and the drummer were laughing with each other about the sexual tension between elliott and aaron. i like how elliott looks like he's constipated when he has to sing those high parts, that inspires me.

i was there too... junk bond trader was fantastic, prolly my favorite of the night. easy way out won for most beautiful. even where i was (waaaaay up top) everyone was silent during that song. cept the bartender... she cackled something about 'tabs,' and everybody turned and glared at her. heh. just goes to show, elliott's still got it.

amity sounded cool --- there was something really different about it, the rhythym or something. i was a bit sad that i didn't fall over and die finally hearing 'independence day' (my absolute favorite) with the keyboards. i dunno maybe the place was just too big.

so can anyboy name the covers he played? i'm clueless... one of them had the 'i denied i denied i denied.' and he played like 2 new ones, new to me at least.

the piano player is cool. and sam has that 'i'm crossing my legs in a funny way that makes me look like i'm going to fall down' routine down to an exact science. heh heh. i swear, a couple times there i thought he was gonna fall over.

anyway

xo yall
