i seriously think the fillmore is a fire hazard. i don't even know how long it took to get everyone out of there. i got really paniced and wasn't able to breathe. i don't like crowds, unless someone is playing music and i am dancing to it.

but the band was TIGHT. they were together. that drummer was excellent. the sound was excellent. if anyone recorded it, i wouldn't mind having a copy of my very first elliott smith show. sam cut his hair and grew some facial hair. but not a bad moustache like elliott once had. and elliott didn't seem fat, like everyone has been saying he is...

i guess danielle howle also opened. that means i missed not one, but TWO opening bands. i wasn't even that late, either. i might have gotten there around 9:15. this joint runs on schedule.

and. didn't someone say something about a t-shirt with shoes on it? because the only ones i saw were of the album cover and the eight, and i didn't like either. so i got a minders cd, which i will have to listen to obsessively and maybe tomorrow night i'll recognise some songs.

i didn't write down the setlist because i figured someone else would. and i knew there would be a few songs i didn't know anyway. (new? covers?) the second encore was pretty because he played the biggest lie and the white lady loves you more.

and who the hell is dana? sam's tattoo continues to baffle me.

(same is prettyprettypretty. and that piano player is stylish.)

and! they had dancers. the one on the right, the skinny punky boy, he had it going on. he was great. i saw him after the show and told him he rocked. "really, you think it was good? i had a great time..." very rowr. almost as rowr as sam.

natasha. xox. + sinking DOT org.

Pretty Mary K done with the whole band sounded superb, as did Cupids Trick, Bled White, and all the others. Both nights he did two encores, the second one being acoustic, and both nights he invited some of his friends onstage to dance. its weird because i really don't think of it being dancing music, but it does certainly lighten the mood up a bit. Elliott seemed like he was enjoying himself, although the crowd was really loud both nights which startled him at times. i wonder if the really hysterical fans bug him or whether he doesn't mind.

The Minders rocked both nights, definitely a good choice for opening band.

oh, and elliott wore the same t-shirt both nights.

hi everyone
i just wanted to tell my story because i sent 2 days in the sf area to see
elliott. it was a great time as usual. well i got there at like 5:45 and
there were a few people in line. it was actually a very quiet line
especially on monday. no one really talked to anyone and i was alone so it
was lame, but i am always lucky to somehow attract attention by homeless
people. they always want to talk to me for some reason. if i could attract
people like i do homeless people i think i would be hugh hefner or
something.

anyway, the first person i got to see from the list is my hero is cheez and
his girlfrined mary! we talked briefly. i cant say enough how great cheez
is. actually i wish we would hang out at shows, but we like see each other
and talk but when the show starts we dont hang out :( someday. well that was
about it outside. i had a plan. my plan was to hit the merch table and then
make my way to the front. so we are let in and i run the merch table, except
the person putting stuff up wasnt the merch person so he had no idea what
sizes of shirts there were or any change, so i had 2 of the album shirts and
the floor was filling, so i had to give in and say forget it and run to the
front. so i was totally to the left side of the stage, almost parallel to
aaron's stuff on stage, so i met a friend who isnt on the list and then carl
came by!

it was rad hanging out with carl. pretty much it was me and him hanging out
the rest of the show together along with my other friend. well like others
of said there was a person who opened the show up and i forget her name from
north carolina. she was funny and she pretty great singer. so that was good
and then the minders who are fantastic in my opinion. for some reason i felt
like a dead head listening to them, but thats probably a real bad analogy.
elliott played a few songs with them at the end including dig a pony which
fantastic. i add the minders to my list of bands i think cover the beatles
well. the list member is elliott :)

then elliott came on. the first song was cupid's trick and i swear the new
intro is rad! it totally set the tone for the night which loud and rocking.
i felt like i was a heavy metal show. here is the setlist for the first
night

thats was it. it was great. this show is my second favorite ever. it totally
beats all acoustic shows except the first one i ever went to. the only
bummer for me at the end of the show was that they sold out of shirts in my
size after i tried to get em and we didnt get a fillmore poster either :(
anyway carl and i said we would see each other the next night.
