Went out last night to see the Blue Spark play a show, you might remember
Kevin Suggs plays guitar/pedal steel for that band, led by Goodness
guitarist Garth Reeves. Kevin had nothing but great things to say about
Nels and Carla, he found them to be great people to work with and
exceptional artists. In the beginning he thought it would be a challenge to
make the recording, and described the first day as almost totally
unstructured improvisations. But he said things settled out and they got
into a groove and actually recorded all they wanted to, and finished mixing
it down on Friday night. In other words, according to Kevin, who ought to
know, they have the final-mix DAT in hand and are ready to master and
release a record. He didn't say when or where or how or what, and I was
stupid and didn't even ask how many songs they did, but it looks like
depending on how motivated the label people are something could be coming
out sooner rather than later. That's what I know .. -t.
